Stabilized Vitamin C Ferulic Acid Powder for DIY Creams and Serums

When used in a serum, ferulic acid helps to stabilize vitamin C, preventing it from oxidizing and degrading. Generally, ferulic acid powder is used in a 1% solution, dissolved in an alcohol base to prevent clouding before use. Many of our customers mix it with our Vitamin C Powder or Hyaluronic Acid Powder to create a fresh, professional quality serum.

To create this serum, you'll need to add the following ingredients to 4 tablespoons of water:

• Between ½ and 2 tablespoons of Bos Essentials Vitamin C Powder (for a 5-20% Vitamin C solution – see instructions on the vitamin C product page)
• A few drops of Bos Essentials Ferulic Acid Powder dissolved in an alcohol base (this helps to stabilize the vitamin C and adds additional antioxidant properties)
• ½ teaspoon of Bos Essentials Hyaluronic Acid Powder (add this only when the rest of the ingredients are fully dissolved)

Refrigerate the mixture until it gels, then perform a spot test for sensitivity. Apply this serum daily, before the rest of your beauty routine.

Ferulic acid is 100% natural, as it is found naturally in the leaves and seeds of most plants, with a particularly high abundance in the brans of grasses (rice, wheat, and oats). It's a favorite ingredient in the formulation of anti-aging cosmetics, and can be easily added to your favorite cream or DIY serum.

The reason ferulic acid is so beneficial is that it helps to stabilize vitamins. When vitamins are exposed to light and air, they tend to break down, but ferulic acid prevents them from degrading and losing their effectiveness. This makes ferulic acid especially helpful in serums containing vitamin C and E, which are highly unstable and can quickly lose their skin benefits in serums and creams.
